Containment Theory Records (CTR) began as an afterthought resulting from many wonderful house shows at 944 College Ave in Rock Hill, SC, known simply as "Eli's house". Many great bands and people from the Winthrop University community took part, including such acts as EQual, John Cheney Face, Young Tom Fury, Post No Lies, and Liberty Hill. House shows ran from May 2001 through April 2003. After most band members and house show hosts graduated, got married, and/or skipped town, the thought of starting a record label sparked interest in Eli Dickerson and Dan Edwards; both having been involved in planning, hosting, and playing at the house shows. In late 2005/early 2006 Dan and Eli both moved to Atlanta, GA where CTR began creating business plans, and mission statements. Around that time, another Winthrop alumn and house show guest, k@ Colohan joined the CTR ranks as designer and promotor, and Mike Edwards joined as a key motivational member and business man, known simply as "Chief." In 2006 Containment Theory Records was incorporated, in that same year, CTR released our first album- a limited edition hand-packaged 21-song full length cd by the illustrious Sonic Colonic. In early 2007 CTR began working with our second artist- Fernandina, who released their first album w/CTR, 'No Good Sleepin'.

In 2007, we met & befriended Witt Weisenbaum and began a monthly show at WonderRoot, called Last Fridays. The Last Fridays series lasted for a full year and showcased our favorite local, Atlanta bands and solo artists.

3 years ago our very own k@, took over Atlanta's Other Sound festival. She soon realized this was far too big a task to tackle alone and brought Justin Sias and Eric Holder of ISP on board. Together the 3 of them have taken this festival to great heights, getting bigger & better bands each year. This year is the biggest to date, taking over Little 5 Points for a whole Saturday, featuring 25 of Atlanta's hottest indie bands & 4 L5P venues!

We've also recently been working with Georgia Slim on producing I Want Whisky's 1st 7" album. That show release will be at the Earl, November 7th.
